Hello members,

I am reaching out to you with a negotiation update. As you know, our contract expires June 30th, 2021; namely, the end of the school year. We have been hard at work developing a strong plan for upcoming negotiations. With our attorney Robert Block’s leadership, our Big Bargaining Team (BBT) (members from the various groups represented in our contract) and Table Team (aka Executive Council) have put in quite a few hours combing through the current language of the CBA and highlighting areas for improvement. We met on 01/16 and 01/23 from 9 AM – 1 PM, and 01/30 from 9 AM – 12 PM. During these meetings, the BBT reviewed, discussed, and suggested changes for all the language sections in the teacher (soon to be called “licensed”), office, and support staff sections of our contract.

Thank you to those members who submitted suggestions for changes to the current language. BBT subcommittees have been set up for the three categories of members represented in the CBA (teachers, office, and support staff) that will address certain areas that are common to all members (pre-K-12 members, and licensed, support and secretaries).

Thank you for participating in your building’s union Google classroom platform to make communications more efficient and effective moving forward. While a start date for negotiations with the district has not yet been set, we are confident that the systems we have set up within our membership will allow for optimal transparency throughout the process.

In Unity,
Jeff Mleczko
EA Council President
